Technics may be Gone Forever...Mourn Forever
Panasonic may be discontinuing Technics 1200 turntables?

As a shorty it was a golden rule to not touch, bump or take the lid off my pops Technics Turntables. He had a little record player that was designated for family use but the Technics only came out when he copped a NEW album or when he would spin at family functions.I remember him keeping a spare needle in a box lined with red velvet.I remember going to parties and going over to peep what kinda turntables the Dj had and looking like something was missing if I didn't see TECHNICS on the tables.
It's crazy how something so fundamental to hip hop and music is now about to be discontinued...in my lifetime.

Black Friday BS...

An elderly Queens man was shot for his new flat-screen TV Friday - but the 47-inch set was too big for the robbers' getaway car.
Three bandits ambushed Bentley White, 64, in his Cambria Heights home about 8:30 a.m. and shot him in the stomach, police said.
The trigger-happy dimwits had their eye on his TV set, but apparently didn't plan ahead.
"I saw three guys fumbling with a box outside by the lamp post," said neighbor Dudley Young, 63. "I saw them fighting over it."
Dudley said the robbers couldn't fit the oversized box into their car - and fled without it, dumping it on 223rd St.
No one has been arrested.
Bentley had surgery and was in stable condition at Jamaica Hospital.
"He didn't deserve this," said relative who didn't want his last name used.
The robbery was one of several holiday weekend crimes around the city.
In East Flatbush, a 41-year-old man was fatally shot death in a parking lot behind Club Nocturnal on Flatbush Ave., police said. He died at Kings County Hospital.
In Bedford-Stuyvesant, a teenager was shot in the head but survived, relatives said.
Daiquan Ellerby, 18, and his older brother, Jayson, were approached by a group on Patchen Ave. about 12:30 a.m. One shot Daiquan in the head.
"We was just standing, and they shot," said Jayson Ellerby. "That's all - they didn't say anything. They just shot!"
Daiquan had surgery at Kings County.
No one has been arrested in either shooting.

Iron Maiden knows the True Meaning of Thanksgiving!
Off The Number Beast Album
Lyrics
White man came across the sea
Brought us pain and misery
Killed our tribes killed our creed
Took our game for his own need
We fought him hard we fought him well
Out on the plains we gave him hell
But many came too much for Cree
Oh will we ever be set free?
Riding through dustclouds and barren wastes
Galloping hard on the plains
Chasing the redskins back to their holes
[ Iron Maiden Lyrics are found on www.songlyrics.com ]
Fighting them at their own game
Murder for freedom a stab in the back
Women and children and cowards attack
Run to the hills run for your lives
Run to the hills run for your lives
Soldier blue on the barren wastes
Hunting and killing their game
Raping the women and wasting the men
The only good Indians are tame
Selling them whisky and taking their gold
Enslaving the young and destroying the old
Run to the hills run for your lives
(repeat to end)

1st "Cannabis Cafe" Coffee Shop Opens in America

“Cannabis Café” Opened only a few days ago, this establishment, in Portland, Oregon, is America’s first and only legal marijuana coffee shop. How long it survives is entirely up to the Obama Administration, which, for the time being, has instructed its Attorney-General, Eric Holder, to leave the policing of marijuana to individual states.
First, you must be enrolled in Oregon’s Medical Marijuana Programme — available only to residents of the state. Joining requires a $100 (£60) fee and a doctor’s certificate confirming that you suffer from cancer, glaucoma, Aids, Alzheimer’s, or any condition that results in severe pain, appetite loss, spasms, seizures, or nausea.

Before you Install that Windows 7 Software...

Privacy expert voices 'backdoor' concerns, security researchers dismiss idea
Computerworld - The National Security Agency (NSA) worked with Microsoft on the development of Windows 7, an agency official acknowledged yesterday during testimony before Congress.
"Working in partnership with Microsoft and elements of the Department of Defense, NSA leveraged our unique expertise and operational knowledge of system threats and vulnerabilities to enhance Microsoft's operating system security guide without constraining the user to perform their everyday tasks, whether those tasks are being performed in the public or private sector," Richard Schaeffer, the NSA's information assurance director, told the Senate's Subcommittee on Terrorism and Homeland Security yesterday as part of a prepared statement.
"All this was done in coordination with the product release, not months or years later during the product lifecycle," Schaeffer added. "This will improve the adoption of security advice, as it can be implemented during installation and then later managed through the emerging SCAP standards."
Security Content Automation Protocol, or SCAP, is a set of standards for automating chores such as managing vulnerabilities and measuring security compliance. The National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST) oversees the SCAP standards.
This is not the first time that the NSA has partnered with Microsoft during Windows development. In 2007, the agency confirmed that it had a hand in Windows Vista as part of an initiative to ensure that the operating system was secure from attack and would work with other government software. Before that, the NSA provided guidance on how best to secure Windows XP and Windows 2000.
According to Marc Rotenberg, the executive director of the Electronics Privacy Information Center (EPIC), the NSA's involvement with operating system development goes back even farther. "This battle goes back to at least the crypto wars of the early '90s," said Rotenberg, who remembered testifying about the agency's role in private sector computer security standards in 1989.
But when the NSA puts hands on Windows, that raises a red flag for Rotenberg, who heads the Washington, D.C.-based public interest research center. "When NSA offers to help the private sector on computer security, the obvious concern is that it will also build in backdoors that enables tracking users and intercepting user communications," Rotenberg said in an e-mail. "And private sector firms are reluctant to oppose these 'suggestions' since the US government is also their biggest customer and opposition to the NSA could mean to loss of sales."
Rotenberg's worries stem from the NSA's reputation as the intelligence agency best known for its eavesdropping of electronic messaging, including cell phone calls and e-mail.
Andrew Storms, the director of security operations at nCircle Security, didn't put much credence in the idea that Microsoft would allow the NSA to build a hidden entrance to Windows 7. "Would it be surprising to most people that there was a backdoor? No, not with the political agenda of prior administrations," said Storms. "My gut, though, tells me that Microsoft, as a business, would not want to do that, at least not in a secretive way."
Roger Thompson, chief research officer at AVG Technologies, agreed. "I can't imagine NSA and Microsoft would do anything deliberate because the repercussions would be enormous if they got caught," he said in an interview via instant messaging.
"Having said that, I think we should understand that there is every likelihood that certain foreign governments are constantly looking for vulnerabilities that they can use for targeted attacks," Thompson continued. "So if they're poking at us, I think it's reasonable to assume that we're doing something similar. But I seriously doubt an official NSA-Microsoft alliance."
The NSA's Schaeffer added that his agency is also working on engaging other major software makers, including Apple, Sun and Red Hat, on security standards for their products.
"More and more, we find that protecting national security systems demands teaming with public and private institutions to raise the information assurance level of products and services more broadly," Schaeffer said.
Microsoft was not immediately available for comment on the NSA's participation in Windows 7's development.

ESTEVAN ORIOL
Former club bouncer and Los Angeles native Estevan Oriol got his start in the entertainment business managing tours for huge artists like “House of Pain” and “Cypress Hill” almost 20 years ago. While globe trotting with them he began his photography career taking flicks of the madness and glitter that surrounds international celebrities.
When he was back home in L.A though, it was a much different story. He took his cues from the street life surrounding him. The singular dramatic black and white photos he produces are gripping, beautiful, and authentically menacing portraits of individuals fully immersed in L.A gang lifestyle.
Blessed with a talented eye and a hood pass, he takes pictures in places armed with a camera where most tough guys would take a weapon.

Check out an exclusive interview from The Run Up as Estevan Oriol expresses his thoughts, methods, and views on approaching everyday with the hunger of a hustler who doesn’t know where his next meal will come from.

Budden confronted by his own peeps
Sometimes your real peoples are the ones who you have to listen to when they keep it honest with you. Peep as Budden is confronted by Slaughterhouse and G Malone about talking too much and seeking too much online attention. It's hard to feel someone no matter how talented they may be, becuase of how they act in real life. No one wants to be around a corny kid, no matter how nice their bars may be. It finally came to a boiling point. Very neccessary.

Harvard student will watch HBO's THE WIRE next year for credit
Harvard students will be able to watch the “The Wire” for class credit next year. The real question is...what do the real D'angelos,Bodie's,Micheal etc...get?This is totally BACKWARDS?!?!

According to The Crimsom
At a panel last night, stars of the HBO hit series joined Harvard professors in discussing the applications of the show—which depicts the struggles of urban life in Baltimore—in understanding and combating real urban social issues.
“‘The Wire’ has done more to enhance our understanding of the systemic urban inequality that constrains the lives of the poor than any published study” Sociology Professor William J. Wilson said.
African American studies chair Professor Evelyn B. Higginbotham said that there would be a new course in which Wilson will use “The Wire” as a case study for poverty in America.
“I’m going to do whatever I need to do to get into that class. I’m excited,” said Martin A. Kessler ’13.
Attendee Sarah V. Chace ’80, who is also a fan of the show, said she already uses “The Wire” as a case study in a class on community leadership she teaches at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven. She said she came to the event to hear more about how other academics and the actors view the role of “The Wire” in depicting urban life.
The show’s enthusiastic fan base contributed to the excitement surrounding the sold-out event, which was sponsored by the African American Studies Department and two local charitable organizations, the Boston Foundation and the Ella J. Baker House.
“It’s probably the best form of media I’ve ever seen, TV or film,” said Brian D. Goldstein ’04, who now studies at the Graduate School of Design.
Panelists encouraged audience members to internalize these harsh realities of the real world problems that the show depicts and actively work to solve them.
“Everything we’re doing to make the world a better place is really for our kids,” said actor Michael K. Williams, who played stick-up artist Omar Little on the show. “Our kids are dying in huge numbers. It’s the real wire.”
Sonja Sohn, who portrayed detective Kima Greggs, described the work of Rewired for Change, the non-profit she started with other cast members to help at-risk youth in the areas of Baltimore depicted in “The Wire.”
She encouraged audience members to make similar changes in the communities they learn about through “The Wire” and the new Harvard course.
“Become a part of these communities. These circumstances will not change if you do nothing,” Sohn said. “Get it moving. Get it popping. Get up off your butt and do something.”

SCIENCE FROM BRUCE
There was a time in every kids life in the hood where you wanna be Bruce Lee. You go out on the streets and practice everything you saw Bruce do on the screen. Facial expressions down, you using your feet and fists to damage the kid on the corner telling you to "stop"!!! as you proceed to jump kick his chin bone.

Bruce Lee's 7 fundamentals of getting your life in order.
1. What are you really thinking about today?
“As you think, so shall you become.”
Perhaps the most basic statement of how we work. Think about what you are thinking today. What do those thoughts say about you? About your life? And how well do they really match your plans for your life and your image of yourself?
It’s easy to forget about this simple statement in everyday life. It’s easy to be quite incongruent with what you think on an ordinary day compared to how you view yourself and your goals. A simple external reminder such as a post-it with this quote can be helpful to keep you and your thoughts on the right track. An brilliant and beautiful expansion on this thought can be found in James Allen’s As a man thinketh (that can be downloaded for free here).
2. Simplify.
“It’s not the daily increase but daily decrease. Hack away at the unessential.”
“If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done.”
If you want to improve your life then it’s tempting to want to add more. One problem with this may be that you don’t really have the time or energy to do more though. And so your efforts to improve become short-lived.
Adding more and more just creates more stress and anxiety. Removing clutter and activities, tasks and thoughts that are not so important frees up time and energy for you to do more of what you really want to do. And as the clutter in your outer world decreases the clutter in your inner world also has a tendency to decrease. This has the added benefit of making it easier to actually enjoy whatever you are doing even more while you are doing it.
Adding more thoughts and thinking things over for the 111:th time may create a sense of security. It’s also a good way to procrastinate and to avoid taking that leap you know you should take. And the more you think, the harder it gets to act. Perhaps because you want to keep that comforting sense of security and avoid the risk of wrecking that feeling.
Thinking has its place. It can help you plan a somewhat realistic route to your goal and help you avoid future pitfalls. Overthinking is however just a habit that will help you waste a lot of time. It’s more useful to replace that habit with the habit of just doing it.
3. Learn about yourself in interactions.
“To know oneself is to study oneself in action with another person.”
The one person that is the hardest to get to really know may be yourself. Studying yourself while you are alone may result in some insights. But it’s also likely to produce a lot of made up thought loops and doubts in your mind. A good way to really learn more about yourself is study yourself in interactions with other people. How people react and act in these interaction can over time teach you a lot. And what you think and how you react can perhaps teach you even more.
What you see, feel and hear in other people may be a reflection of you. The things you learn by thinking this way may not always be pleasant, but they can be enlightening. They help you to see yourself and also how you may be fooling yourself. And these powerful insights can be very valuable for your personal growth. So, in interactions with others, try asking yourself: what is reflected?
4. Do not divide.
“Take no thought of who is right or wrong or who is better than. Be not for or against.”
This is a very useful and powerful thought. It is also one that obviously is hard to live by. Why? I believe it’s because the ego loves to divide and find ways to “add more” to itself. It want’s to feel better than someone else. Or more clever. Or prettier. Or cooler. Or wiser.
How can you overcome this way of thinking and feeling?
To me it seems to boil down to not identifying so much with your thoughts or feelings. That doesn’t mean that you stop thinking or feeling. It just means that you realize – and remember in your everyday life – that the thoughts and emotions are just things flowing through you.
You are not them though.
You are the consciousness observing them.
When you realize and remember this it enables you to control the thoughts and feelings instead of the other way around. It also enables you to not take your thoughts too seriously and actually laugh at them or ignore them when you feel that your ego is acting out. When you are not being so identified these things you become more inclined to include things, thoughts and people instead of excluding them. This creates a lot of inner and outer freedom and stillness. Instead of fear, a need to divide your world and a search for conflicts.
To learn more about this I would recommend Eckhart Tolle’s books and signing up for the 10 free and excellent webcasts - available both in video and audio form – that he’s doing with Oprah right now.
5. Avoid a dependency on validation from others.
“I’m not in this world to live up to your expectations and you’re not in this world to live up to mine.”
“Showing off is the fool’s idea of glory.”
The ego wants to add because it thinks it’s not enough. One way of doing that is by craving validation from others. We want to feel smart, pretty, successful and so on. And the validation makes you feel good for a while. But soon you need a new fix.
And the problem with being dependent on validation from other people is that you let other people control how you feel. This creates a rollercoaster of emotion in your life.
To find more emotional stability and to take control of how you feel you need to get your validation from to a more consistent source. Yourself. You can replace the expectations and validation of others by setting your own expectations and by validating yourself.
And so you validate yourself by thinking about how awesome you are. You don’t sell yourself short. You appreciate how far you have come and the positive things you have done. You appreciate your own value in the world. You set goals and you achieve those goals. This builds confidence in yourself and in your abilities. These things will help you to build a habit of inner validation.
Now, showing off. Why do we do that? To get validation from others. However, this need for validation often shines through and that is why a thing like bragging seldom works. Instead of seeing the cool and successful person you are trying to project people just see the insecure and needy person looking for validation. And your bragging falls flat.
6. Be proactive.
“To hell with circumstances; I create opportunities.”
It’s easy to get locked into a reactive mindset. You just follow along with whatever is happening. You do what the people around you do. You react to whatever is going on.
And so you get lost in your circumstances. This way of thinking doesn’t feel too good. You tend to feel powerless and like you are just drifting along.
A more useful and pleasurable way of living is to be proactive. As Bruce says: to create opportunities despite the circumstances around you. This feels better and provides better results. But on the other hand it’s also more difficult. It’s easier to just drift along in the reactive stream of life. And if you want to be proactive then you may have to take the lead quite often. And that can be scary.
Still, living proactively is so much more rewarding and exciting.
7. Be you.
“Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.”
Just being yourself is a hard thing to do. You may do it sometimes. And other times you may forget or fall back into old thought patterns. Or you may imitate someone else.
And that comes through too. And it may work.
But I believe that being the real you will work better. Because there the genuine you is shining through. Without incongruency, mixed messages or perhaps a sort of phoniness. It’s you to 100%. It’s you with not only your words but you with your voice tonality and body language – which some say is over 90% of communication - on the same wavelength as your words. It’s you coming through on all channels of communication.
So I’m not saying: “yeah man, you should just be yourself because it’s the right thing to do etc.” I’m saying that I think being your authentic self – the one where you do little dividing, the one that needs little validation from others, the one where your ego is not running the show and trying to get something from someone – will give you better results and more satisfaction in your day to day life because you are in alignment with yourself. And because people really like genuine and people really like authenticity.

In the Past the "Parental Advisory Sticker" was a godsend for the parent who actually monitored their children's music purchases. It has been the difference between rated PG-13 and Rated R lyrical content for the music industry. That was a good idea, right?
Only if you add the sticker to the concert tickets...this gets real interesting around 1:36

R.I.P BIG JAX
Today marks the 1 year anniversary of my homie Jax. He passed away last year, rocking the mic at a show, truly dying for this artform and culture. I had known Jax probably over a decade as a transplant in the ATL scene. Done shows, freestyled and recorded a banger together. Last time I really chopped it u with him, he called me from NY and congratulated some moves I was making. I appreciated his positivity and we made plans to do more work as he invited me to get on one of his upcoming projects. Unfortunately, that never happened. I reflect to that call I received early Nov. 4th, the same day Obama would become president. A Historic day which marked the end of an era in more ways then 1. I knew that with Jax gone, there was a closure to an era for me here in Atlanta.......I reflect back to the funtimes and seeing and being blessed enough to build with this cat. I tip my hat and took my moment of silence today to reflect in the memory of a truly special and gifted person, who left us too soon. R.I.P Big JAX!!!!! Lamax my brova

REAL TALK wit DMX
Get DMX's book as well. I think Iaughed hardcore every other page....I kid you not. 1 of the funniest books I've ever read.
Jay answers the question about Siegel beef
Jay-Z answers Beanie Sigel from la rue du hiphop.com on Vimeo.
I can see both sides of this argument clearer now. Hov, gave opportunity, dig it. The only thing I don't get is why he didn't relese Siegel when he was asked to. I get it that you have to provide a grown man opportunity and let him grow, but when that man grows and starts to want to move out of the house, you let him. Especially if the situation is better. Still need to hear more.
Stretch Armstrong recalls 16yr old Nas
Stretch Gots a Story to Tell from Gasface on Vimeo.
Stretch and Bobbito arguably had the best HipHop radio show of all time....Wutang,B.I.G,Nas,JayZ and numerous others alll broke out via that show.
